Dual
DAT Imager
The Dual DAT Imager is designed
for those who need to capture large amounts of computer evidence on site
reliably, quickly and efficiently. The Imager produces both evidential
and working images, and with a combination of activity log and digital
fingerprints provides an audit trail that can be presented as part of
the evidence in a Court of Law.
The imaging software has been developed by Vogon over the past decade
to offer high imaging performance together with comprehensive auditing
and anti-repudiation techniques. This imaging process is independent of
the file system(s) on the hard drive under investigation, and is recognised
by courts around the world as the only valid means of capturing computer
evidence.
Forensic software tools are available to provide the facility to process
and investigate data held within an image. The Software
page covers the features of these software tools. Disk
Emulator hardware is available to automatically produce a "clone"
disk from the image for use under direct operating system control.
Features of the Dual DAT Imager
-
Direct PC attachment: SCSI or parallel port attachment to
computer under investigation or a forensic workstation.
-
Unlimited theoretical capacity: Images can span multiple tapes.
Each DDS-4 DAT tape typically holds between 20 and 40GB of data depending
on compression ratio.
-
Duplicate image production: Two images may be recorded simultaneously:
"Evidential" and "Working".
-
Virtually unattended operation: After the imaging process
has started, the operator only needs to remove and write protect the
tape when image is complete or when prompted for continuation media.
-
Progress and status reporting: The software provides an on-screen
progress display and a printable status report is generated for audit
purposes.
-
Real-time reporting: A display panel on the Imager provides
full status information.
-
Anti-repudiation facility: CRC32 and MD5 checksums generated
during the imaging process allow the image to be validated at any
time.
-
Accessories: Includes all hardware and software required to
take an image and includes a custom made carry bag.
-
Technical Support: A dedicated support team at Vogon will
provide email and/or telephone support to ensure any technical issues
are handled promptly and effectively.
-
Training: Full training on the use of Vogon products is available
at Vogon's training centres in UK and Germany, or may be arranged
at client's training facility.
